Marion County Prevention Association
is an advocacy group for the prevention of alcohol and other drug use among the
youth of Ocala and Marion County by providing parents with leadership,
education, and information to achieve a drug free community. Marion County
Prevention Association and CCASA also play an important role in Red Ribbon Week,
which is the last week in October.
This is a national campaign that heightens awareness concerning the dangers
of drugs and promotes an atmosphere of community cooperation in the efforts to
eliminate drug abuse. 2002’s campaign was very exciting, and over 350 people
attended a kickoff celebration at the Ocala Police Department Headquarters.
Various activities continued throughout the week.
