Safe and Drug Free Schools Program


CCASA serves as the advisory board for the Safe and Drug Free Schools (SDFS) grant program. Through the Florida Department of Education the Marion County Public Schools administers the SFDS program. The SDFS program implements developmentally appropriate education and prevention programs that address the legal, social, and health consequences of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD) use and violence prevention.

District programs include a middle school mentoring program, Red Ribbon Week, teacher training on ATOD, a video library, and student participations. Marion County Public Schools received a total of $312,000 to run the SDFS program for the 2003-2003 school year.
