How CCASA Works

The philosophy is basic: CCASA looks at the problem holistically. CCASA supports and spearheads programs, turning them over to community groups and organizations for growth. CCASA serves as an idea incubator for individual citizens and groups, involving them in all its efforts through an aggressive outreach philosophy. Meetings are held with public notice to open the door for citizen empowerment. CCASA's strength comes from the people involved with the program.

During 2007, the number of people touched by the programs were estimated to be in excess of 125,000. The council also distributed over 154,000 pieces of drug prevevtion literature.

There is no simple, single solution. The community, school, family and friends need to accept responsibility and deal with the problem in order to establish a social system with healthy norms to serve as an example for the children and the future.

CCASA serves as the the advisory committee for:

  • City of Ocala and Marion County U.S. Department of Justice Byrne JAG Grants
  • Marion County School Board Safe and Drug Free Schools Program
  • Florida Department of Law Enforcement Edward Bryne Memorial Grant Funds
  • Office of National Drug Control Policy Drug Free Communities Grant
  • Florida Department of Juvenile Justice Title V Grant.
  • City of Ocala Weed and Seed Grant
